We had a small thunderstorm here yesterday afternoon, fortunately it had dried up by the time I was leaving work but the dark skies lead me to chicken out for my planned long route home and use my wet weather alternative instead. This route follows the cycle path down the side of the A127 then uses a long wide residential tree lined avenue for most of the rest of the way. It turned out that this had been a good decision as a massive thunderstorm started about 20 minutes after I got home and I would have got completely soaked if it had used my original route.
It’s nice and sunny today though and so I decided to use the road bike this morning. After yesterdays traffic free morning commute I came in the fast, busy, traffic heavy way today. The reason why - speed. Using the busy, traffic heavy route on the road bike takes 25 minutes. Using the nice quiet route takes 35 minutes.
